Papillion is a Louisiana Cultural Musician and storyteller. Papillion presents a musical, storytelling performance that is a delightful gumbo of Cajun & Zydeco music created for young children and families. Papillion has been performing in elementary and pre-schools and at festivals and other cultural events for 35+ years.

With a strong background of education and experience in early childhood education (Masters in Early Childhood Education), Papillion brings a seasoned and expert understanding to his interaction with young children and their families.

Drawing from his Cajun and Creole roots and much study of Louisiana French cultures; Papillion applies his education background and experience, with his love and understanding of his cultures; Papillion has for many years, sought to impart in children a love for their own cultural roots and a respect for the cultural differences of others.

"These songs from the Louisiana Bayou, about crawfish and alligators, watermelon and jambalaya, have joie de vivre (joy of life!) built right into them. They will make you want to roll up the rug and follow Papillion's instructions on how to dance the Zydeco and 'mud bug jitterbug boogie' and let the good times roll."

Chicago Tribune, Chicago, IL

"Cajun artist (for children) Papillion delivers on his promise to provide plenty of toe-tappin', two-steppin' music. Papillion also gives kids a good idea of what Cajun means when he describes food, locale, customs and shares family stories. Along with fascinating facts, listeners are treated to a bevy of peppy tunes featuring top-notch musicianship on such traditional instruments as Cajun and Zydeco Accordions, fiddle and t'fer (triangle)."

Publisher's Weekly, NY,NY

"Papillion had children twirling in the aisles and jitterbugging on stage as he served up a sampling of life along the bayou. Some kids played washboards, others tambourines. Everyone wanted to join Papillion on stage and most got the chance. Those who didn't grabbed partners near their seats and headed to the aisles, where they jumped and bopped to such songs as 'Jambalaya' and 'Laissez les Bon Temp Rouler!'"

The Times Picayune, New Orleans, LA

"Imagine a sun soaked Louisiana filled with happy Cajun children, frolicking through the bayou. If these carefree crawfish-eaters were singing, their songs would sound much like 'Cajun for Kids' by Papillion. This gumbo of original tracks and adapted traditional tunes brings the joy of popular Cajun and Zydeco music to a new generation of listeners.

Papillion deftly weaves narration about the Cajun/Creole lifestyle, food, language, history and musical instruments between songs, summoning memories of his childhood to illustrate his topics. His catchy music makes his culture come alive as he sings about subjects like dancing at the Fais Do Do and staying away from 'Cocodrie' (alligator).
the Louisiana born musician and storyteller is truly a 'Monsieur Rogers' of Cajun music. Fix your family a big pot of jambalaya, turn oh his 'Cajun for Kids!' and 'laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll)!"

Metro Parent, Southfield, MI.

"Papillion's own compositions are happy, joyful songs with an irresistible beat and rollicking accordions! Between these sunny bursts of sound, Papillion tells fanciful stories handed down through his Cajun family."
